The Astro-Huskies are a team of 40+ multi-disciplinary students who participate in NASA’s annual Lunabotics Challenge to design and build a prototype lunar construction rover with the ability to autonomously traverse, excavate, and deposit lunar regolith simulant while navigating obstacles in a competition arena.
DIVER is a student-led project of 10+ students dedicated to developing a safe, effective underwater robotic solution for exploring and inspecting flooded mine shafts. The goal is to evaluate the feasibility of converting these decommissioned mines into energy storage called PUSH facilities using onboard sensors.
Trencher is a project of 15+ students working to raise NASA’s bucket ladder technology readiness level. Currently the team is working to integrate our Lunar Ladder and NASA’s Moonraker bucket ladder with the Planetary Surface Technology Development Lab’s Hoplite rover to collect field data on both systems.
EXTINCT is a student led team of 5+ students advancing the Tethered Permanently Shadowed Region EXplorer (T-REX), originally developed for NASA’s BIG Idea Challenge. The team is refining the rover and tether systems while preparing for field testing in the Nevada Testing craters to support future lunar exploration applications.
Rasc-al is a student team of 5+ students who participate in NASA’s Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts Academic Linkage, Rasc-al, Competition. This project challenges development of innovative aerospace architecture for human exploration of the Moon, Mars, and Deep Space. Currently, the team is focusing on Smart/Resilient Lunar Habitat.
